Love & sex. Those two things go together don’t they? At least that’s what we thought. That’s what we saw on our favorite TV shows. That’s what we saw in our friends’ relationships. That is the trap that we fell into. We listened to the world instead of listening to God’s Word. We were in love, so we made love. We knew it was wrong in the eyes of our families so we kept it a secret. We knew it was wrong in the eyes of God but we thought we knew better than God. After all, he wants us to be happy right? Right! God wants us to be happy! God wants us to be fulfilled! That is why He has given us His Word to act as a guide to lead us to the best life possible. We ignored this guide because we didn’t want to “follow rules” or be put in a box. I mean, we were in love, and it was just sex. We didn’t think it was a big deal. We weren’t hurting anyone and nobody knew. That was, until we got pregnant. Now our sin was out there for everyone to see. We were scared and we didn’t know what to do.
We didn’t realize it at the time, but now we see that in all circumstances God gives you a path that you can take to grow closer to him. Despite feeling like our world could be crumbling around us, we made a leap to start following Him closer. Within months of our newly renewed decision to follow Jesus, our lives began to change even more than we thought possible. Our relationship, finances and even our jobs were blessed because we were following His word, the guide that we so blatantly ignored just months before.
He took our sin, our weakness, our mess, put it out in front of everyone, made us realize exactly what we were doing and turned it into our greatest opportunity to grow closer to him. God has wrapped us in love and grace and pulled us out of shame. Life is so much better with Jesus. He knows us, He loves us, and He wants to see each of us live the best life we can.
