Day 71
John 14:1-6
When Jesus spoke these words to His disciples, He knew they would face confusion, fear, and sorrow, but He urged them not to let their hearts be troubled. This was not a denial of difficulty, but rather an invitation to trust. When life feels overwhelming, Jesus reminds us that we can rest in Him! Instead of dwelling on our worries, we are called to place our faith in the God who is always in control. No matter what uncertainties lie ahead, we can find peace by fixing our eyes on Jesus.
14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Read verse 1 again focusing on the first sentence.
Reflection Questions:
1. What is currently troubling your heart, and how can you bring it before Jesus?
2. How does trusting in Jesus change the way you respond to difficult situations?
Application:
Write down a specific worry or fear you are struggling with today. Pray and surrender it to God, asking Him to replace your anxiety with His peace.
Prayer
Lord, You know the burdens I carry and the worries that trouble my heart. Help me to trust in You and rest in Your peace. Remind me that You are always in control, even when life feels uncertain. I surrender my fears to You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Day 72
John 14:1
Jesus connects faith in God with faith in Himself, which affirms for us that Jesus is indeed divine. The disciples already believed in God, but now Jesus challenges them to trust in Him with the same confidence. This verse calls us to personal faith through a relationship with Jesus, not just faith in an abstract idea of God. We should have faith in Jesus who reveals the Father to us! Trusting in Jesus means believing that He is who He says He is and that He will do what He has promised. True peace comes when we rely on Jesus completely, even when we don’t understand His ways. Jesus truly is God and wants us to place our faith in Him!
Read John 14:1 three times.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
Reflection Questions:
1. What does it mean for you to personally believe in Jesus in your daily life?
2. In what areas do you struggle to trust Jesus completely?
Application:
Take time today to declare your trust in Jesus out loud. Write down a Bible verse about trust (such as Proverbs 3:5-6) and keep it with you as a reminder to rely on Him.
Prayer:
Jesus, I believe in You, but I confess that sometimes I struggle to keep you at the forefront of my mind. Strengthen my trust in You, especially when I don’t understand what You are doing. Help me to rely on Your promises and walk in faith each day. In Your name, Amen.
Day 73
John 14:2
Jesus paints a beautiful picture of heaven, calling it “My Father’s house.” This description reminds us that heaven is not just a place—it is home, where we will dwell with God forever! The “many rooms” signify that there is space for all who believe in Christ. In a world where we often feel restless, this promise gives us hope.
Our ultimate security is not in the temporary things of this world but in the eternal home Jesus is preparing for us. When we feel displaced or discouraged, we can find comfort in knowing that our true home awaits us with Him.
Read John 14:2
“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”
Reflection Questions:
1. How does the promise of heaven change the way you view your life on earth?
2. What does it mean to live with an eternal perspective?
Practical Application:
Spend time thanking God for the eternal home He has prepared for you. Look for a way today to invest in things that have lasting value, such as loving others, sharing the gospel, and growing in your faith.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the promise of an eternal home with You. When I feel lost or unsettled in this world, remind me that my true home is with You. Help me to live with an eternal perspective and to share this hope with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Day 74
John 14:2-3
Jesus’ words are deeply personal—He is not just preparing a place in general, but a place for us. This means that He cares about our future and is actively working for our good. The preparation He speaks of was accomplished through His death and resurrection, securing our place in the Father’s house.
Because Jesus has gone before us, we can have confidence that our eternity is secure. His preparation also reminds us that our faith journey is leading somewhere—toward a promised destination where we will experience perfect joy in His presence.
2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Reflection Questions:
1. How does knowing Jesus is preparing a place for you give you peace and assurance?
2. What are some ways you can prepare your heart for eternity while living on earth?
Practical Application:
Spend time reflecting on what it means to have a personal place in heaven. Share this truth with someone who may need encouragement about their eternal future.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for personally preparing a place for me. Your love and care for me are beyond what I can comprehend. Help me to trust in Your perfect plan and to focus on the eternal joy that awaits me in Your presence. In Your name, Amen.
Day 75
John 14:3
Jesus’ promise to return is a source of great hope for believers. His first coming was to redeem, and His second coming will be to gather His people to Himself. This means that our faith is not just about the present—it is anchored in the future. No matter what struggles we face, we can hold on to the certainty that Jesus will fulfill His promise. His return is not a distant possibility but a guaranteed reality. As we wait, we are called to live faithfully, keeping our eyes on Him and our hearts ready for His coming.
Read John 14:3
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Reflection Questions:
1. How does the promise of Jesus’ return impact the way you live today?
2. What does it mean to be spiritually ready for His coming?
Practical Application:
Take a moment to examine your heart. Are there areas in your life that need to be aligned with God’s will? Ask Him to help you live each day in expectation of His return.
Prayer:
Lord, I look forward to the day when You will return and make all things new. Help me to live each day in anticipation of Your coming, staying faithful and ready. May my life reflect Your love and truth until that day arrives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Day 76
John 14:4-5
Thomas’ question in verse 5 reflects the uncertainty that some of us may feel: “Lord, we don’t know where You are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus had already shown them the way through His life, His teachings, and His relationship with the Father. Sometimes, we feel like we need more answers, but Jesus reminds us that He has already given us what we need. Following Him daily by trusting in His Word and walking in obedience keeps us on the right path. Even when the future is unclear, we can trust that Jesus Himself is leading us.
Read John 14:4-5
4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Reflection Questions:
1. Have you ever struggled with uncertainty about God’s direction in your life? How did you handle it?
2. What steps can you take to deepen your trust in the way Jesus is leading you?
Practical Application:
Ask God for guidance in a specific area of your life today. Then, take a step of faith by acting on what you already know He has called you to do.
Prayer:
Jesus, I trust that You are leading me even when I don’t fully understand the path ahead. Give me faith to follow You daily and courage to obey Your direction. Thank You for being the way that leads to life. In Your name, Amen.
Day 77
Read John 14:6
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus makes a bold and exclusive claim: He is the way, the truth, and the life—no one comes to the Father except through Him. In a world that offers many paths and conflicting beliefs, Jesus leaves no room for doubt. He is not just one way among many; He is the only way. He is the truth that sets us free, and He is the source of eternal life. This verse challenges us to build our lives completely on Christ and to boldly share His message with others. Salvation is found in Him alone, and through Him, we have direct access to the Father. The ONLY way to be saved and spend eternity with God in Heaven is through Jesus.
The path is singular – there is nothing we can do but instead, it’s all about what Jesus has done for us. Jesus came to this earth, lived a perfect and sinless life, but was sent to the cross to die. When Jesus died, he took on the punishment that we deserve because of our sin. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death. Jesus took on that punishment that we deserve by dying on the cross. He defeated death, rose from the grave, and ascended into Heaven. Because of that sacrifice, we can have a relationship with Jesus that declares us righteous before God.
Read John 14:6 again.
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Reflection Questions:
1. Why do you think Jesus emphasized that He is the only way to the Father?
2. Have you made the decision to follow Jesus? If not, reflect on what is holding you back!
3. How can you share this truth with others in a loving and compassionate way?
Practical Application:
Pray for someone in your life who does not yet know Jesus. Ask God for an opportunity to share His truth with them, and be ready to speak boldly when the moment comes.
Prayer:
Jesus, You are the only way to the Father, the absolute truth, and the source of eternal life. Help me to stand firm in this truth and share it boldly with others. Let my life reflect Your light so that others may come to know You. In Your name, Amen.
