I accepted Jesus’ death for my sin when I was young. But I went through life like nothing was different. I was making decisions based on what people said I should do, not what God wanted for my life. All I wanted was praise from people and so I did whatever would make people like me more. I was following God but I was not growing and giving God everything.

I was giving God only what was easy – an hour on Sunday and 15 minutes of devotions. Through many trials, God was trying to wake me up but I wasn’t listening. I was only when I hit rock bottom that I had to decide to surrender everything. God continued to challenge my heart through summer student mission trips at Grace.

Baptism was always the next step, but I never felt that I was good enough to proclaim my faith to everyone. But God uses broken, sinful people to fulfill His glorious plan and I want to be a part of what God is doing. Baptism, for me, is giving God everything to show everyone that I want to follow Jesus.
