The Dayton community was struck by not one, but two EF-3 tornadoes on Memorial Day. The tornadoes demolished homes, caused mass power-outages, knocked down trees and shut down main roads. It was reported that 64 people received medical attention in the Dayton area. People sought shelter in churches and were evacuated from their homes.
When disaster strikes, the church has the awesome opportunity to rally with hurting communities. It’s time to serve Dayton.
And they need you.
Here’s how you can help:
1. PRAY. Are you willing to pray for the community, first responders, churches, and for God’s name to be made great amidst this horrible event?
2. GIVE. Will you consider giving a monetary donation (above and beyond your normal giving) to the disaster relief fund to enable us to continue to give aid when disaster strikes? Simply mark your check with “Disaster Relief.”
3. GO. Will you go to Dayton to help clean up the homes of people from a local Grace Church and other members of the community? The team will be leaving at 5am on Thursday, June 6th and will return late the same day.
It’s important to keep in mind the three stages of disaster relief: Relief. Rehabilitation. Recovery. We want to be sure that we respect these stages and provide the proper support at the proper time.
Let’s come together to support and show the love of Jesus to the people of Dayton!
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Galatians 5:13
