Adult Atlanta Missions Trip
Missions trips stretch people who go. Atlanta challenged us to see how God’s heart is for the nations. We learned how we as followers of Jesus are blessed to be a blessing. We learned about Hinduism, Islam, and Buddhism. Our team also helped to lead a VBS for a new Cambodian church. The church and their pastor were greatly encouraged.
One of many highlights was when the ladies attended a sunset feast after the Ramadan fast with Muslim women. The hospitality and warmth of the hosts were overwhelming. They experienced love and care. What a tremendous experience to understand how a person leaving the Muslim faith will need a caring, loving spiritual family. We were moved to pray for God to bring many Muslims to Christ during the rest of Ramadan.
We thank God for the support and prayers of Grace Church.
Grace Students Atlanta Trip
Our team went to BAPS, Atlanta’s biggest Hindu temple. It was a unique experience for all of us as we learned about their beliefs and rituals. After we left the temple, our students shared stories of their experiences there. One thing that stood out to one of our team members was how the Hindu religion is centered around deeds and practices. Especially since, as followers of Jesus we know that we don’t have to work for our salvation, it has already been paid for by Christ.
We also served at Reach the Nations Church by leading VBS programs. Our team fell in love with the kids at first sight; they were all playing, singing, dancing, and building relationships with them.
Our team was more than blown away by the number of kids that came, which almost doubled the amount from the day before. The kids arrived with a crazy amount of energy and excitement to be there. It’s been so cool to see the relationships being formed within our team and with the kids.
